Star Trek viewing order

Now that I’m on a little break from work I decided to go back and refresh my star trek. It’s been a while since I’ve watched it and now I’m watching everything in order.

It’s not as easy as it might seem, as some of the seasons and movies overlap. Bellow I’ve devised an order to watch the series and the movies without missing continuity events.

In this order I did not account for time travel episodes, as I don’t think is worth to break a season in half just to see an episode from another season or series that happened on that stardate. But I guess that for the most hardcore fans, they might do that :p

Anyway, without any further ado, here’s the viewing order for all of Star Trek. Movies are in italic bold.

You could leave Star Trek Enterprise series to the end, as it was the last one released, and set as a prequel, and, in my view, showed a somewhat more advanced Enterprise. At least regarding the looks I think the NX-01 looked better than the NCC-1701.

Finally, after you’ve seen all this you should go back and watch the new Star Trek movie, which changes the time line and hopefully will, in the near future, introduce new series.

Wow, seems I haven’t been writing for a long time.

Anyway, this month is quite important, as a lot of shows make their comeback: Fringe, Supernatural, Smallville, and on top of that, Big Bang Theory.

Don’t forget to watch them, all of them are worth it!

Star Trek – The Man Trap

I’ve finally watched the first episode of the remastered edition of Star Trek TOS. The DVDs arrived today, and, wow, is amazing. The picture quality, sound quality and the visual effects are astonishing. It feels like a new show (yes, the story is still very cheesy, but it’s Star Trek right?).

First episode seen, 29 episodes to go. Can’t wait to see all the others. To you people out there, go grab the remastered version and start watching as well. You wont be disappointed. I only hope they would remaster TNG, DS9 and Voyager. One can dream…

Star Trek TOS Season 1 (Remastered)

This is a nice way for me to start the Star Trek collection. Like all good things, we should always start from the beginning.

The remastered version (actually, the second remastered version), looks impressive. The show does not look as outdated as the original picture. The effects are much better now, the lights, the shadows, the sounds, well, everything.

Now in my collection is only missing two more seasons of TOS, full TNG, full DS9, full Voyager and full Enterprise (plus the animated series, although I don’t really want them that much, at least for now).

I’ve bought this BBC series this week. Is a really cheap collection, only £12 for 5 DVD’s that cover the story of Earth: animal, plant, sea, mountains, everything.

Is a great show to watch during that raining afternoon, and we can learn a lot from it.

The images are also brilliant. It’s amazing how beautiful how world can be.

I’m still going trought the first DVD, but I’m sure the ride will be worth the time spent watching it.

Battlestar Galactica, Smallville and Supernatural returns

This has been a nice week. Yesterday we had the return of Supernatural and Smallville.

The episodes were great, really up to the standards.

Battlestar will be up this evening, so by tomorrow morning I will be able to see the episode. It has been a long break, but is defenitly the show I was waiting the most.

This nice show has been remade, and now that I have seen three episodes, I think I can make a proper review of it.

Well, first things first: why, why do they put actors that seem to have 25 to 30 years act like they had 16? It takes some realism to the show, don’t you think?

So far the show has been kind of boring, with such a history that has been repeted itself over and over on other shows. It actually makes me remember of OC, and altough OC was nice on it’s time, there is no need to copy it over.

I really hope it improves over the next few episodes, because to be like this is better to be canceled. I think not many people would miss it.
